Definition

Flexible Learning Provision refers to learning programmes that are planned around the needs of a young person/ young people. Its aim is to inspire and support at risk young people to engage in and/or remain in learning. It can be both short term or long term and can be delivered both on and off school premises by a range of providers.

Programmes can focus, for example, on personal and social skill development, teambuilding skills, vocational skills and basic skills, the outcome of which enable a young person to feel they can move forward.

Flexible Learning Providers

Flexible Learning Providers range from providers within the CYPS (Children and Young People's Service) to the private sector that charge or have places which are funded. Providers offer young people and schools a choice which can often be tailor made to meet the needs of a young person. However not all providers or provision can meet all the issues and key to any success is commitment.
