DROUGHT MEASURES-IMPLEMENTATION
gareth.owen@trafford.gov.uk, 2010-07-13 13:26:52 (yyyy, mm, dd)

IMPLEMENTATION OF DROUGHT MEASURES

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

United Utlilities have imposed a domestic hosepipe ban in response to exceptionally low reservoir levels in the North West of England, a result of the lowest rainfall in the first half of the year since records began.

The ban restricts the use of hosepipes or sprinklers for watering private gardens and washing private cars.

Under the circumstances, Trafford Council is implementing its Climate Change Adaptation Plan which aims to minimise water consumption by the Council in order to protect the remaining water supply for Trafford residents.

Consequently, watering in parks within Trafford will only take place where absolutely essential, and ponds and lakes within parks will not be refilled during the drought period.

The Council encourages schools and other educational settings to keep water consumption to a minimum, and where possible refrain from the use of hosepipes or other water-intensive activities, including taking care not to leave taps running and conserving water at every opportunity.

For more information and latest updates on the drought situation, please see the United Utilities web site at www.unitedutilities.com

Trafford Council supports the Use Water Wisely Campaign.

The purpose of this letter is to remind you from 1st January 2010, the standard rate of VAT will revert to 17.5%.  A VAT guidance leaflet is available via the schools intranet.

From 1 January 2010, schools will need to be careful that they are using the correct standard rate of VAT when coding up transactions on FMS 6.

Where schools changed the default Standard VAT ledger codes on FMS 6, they will now need to change the default code back.

If you have any queries concerning these instructions please contact your Finance Support Officer in the first instance.

Lloyds TSB New Statement Format and Numbering
gareth.owen@trafford.gov.uk, 2009-10-20 12:11:53 (yyyy, mm, dd)

We have been advised that Lloyds TSB have introduced a new bank statement format and statement numbering system and future statements may be numbered from 1 to 99

You may find that Lloyds TSB bank statements you are now receiving will be in a different range of statement numbers and will commence at statement number 1.

If you receive statements in the new range of statement format i.e. statement number 1, please check the opening balance on bank statement 1 agrees with the closing balance on the last bank statement the school received for that bank account.

We have contacted Capita as the SIMS FMS6 system does not presently allow you to record duplicate statement numbers and this new range of statement numbers will already have been used on FMS6. Capita are presently looking at updating their software to take account of this.

As an interim measure we have taken advice from Capita and recommend using a prefix of 10 plus the two digit statement number when inputting the bank statement to FMS6.

For example bank statement number 1 would be recorded on FMS6 as 1001 and bank statement number 12 would be recorded on FMS6 as 1012.

Please pass a copy of this letter to the appropriate person in school.

If you have any queries , please contact your support officer, Danielle Taylor or Sarah Lloyd.

Yours faithfully

Danielle Taylor
